Health Infrastructure
Rationale
Reflections | Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct
Reflections is based on the themes of nature, family, tradition and journey. It captures views of spacious skies, calming water and whimsical cloud shapes for mental escape.
Reflections is a response to my experience within the sterile spaces of hospitals. As a patient and during my visits to Liverpool hospital, I find myself drawn to the windows, seeking the calmness of trees, the soothing colour of the sky and changing shapes of clouds. Influenced by the works of James Turrell and the timeless elegance of Japanese woodblock prints, Reflections combines the themes of Nature, Family, and Journey. Reflections aims to capture the essence of these elements, offering a visual narrative that resonates with the patients and provide them a momentary escape. Within Reflections, hidden shapes of heirloom objects and animals create moments of discovery for patients.
The Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct is an expansion to enhance and optimise services at Liverpool Hospital. The LHAP will provide a significant boost in health services to south western Sydney’s growing population through an integrated cancer centre, expansion of the hospital’s Emergency Department, neonatal intensive care, maternity and children’s services, and ambulatory and outpatient care.
