Rationale
River Friends | Camden Town Farm
River Friends is about natures transformation and our relationship with it. The platypus is adaptable and unique, the carp is stoic, and the metamorphosis of the frog refers to the change in the surrounding landscape.
River Friends comprises of three water fauna that inhabit the waterways of the Nepean River, a platypus, frog, and carp. The choice of these aquatic fauna is reflected in the flooding nature of the river area, the idea that when flooding occurs, they will come alive, appearing to jump, float, or swim in their natural habitat. They are sculptural shapes embodying whimsical play, combining nature with functional art.
River Friends invites us to sit, play and contemplate nature and the distinct ecosystems of Camden Town Farm and the surrounding Nepean River. River Friends is located at 3 locations along the Camden Town Farm’s 4.2km Nepean River Trail walkway.
